I’m so excited to share this recipe for my favorite “pumpkin pie” smoothie today– I love this one because in my opinion when it comes to Autumn there’s no such thing as too much pumpkin pie, and this is a fun, easy, healthy way to get that pumpkin-y fix!
I also love that it’s super easy to customize depending on your mood all the way from super healthy to a little more, shall we say, “dessert-y”? The great news is that even the most decadent version of this recipe is still super healthy and sure to help you get your glow on!
Skincare From the Inside
That’s because pumpkin is also amazing for your skin! It’s a great source of beta-carotene, which helps your skin protect itself from free-radicals, and keeps it looking healthy! So you can essentially be multitasking with your skincare while eating lots of pumpkin yumminess ;)
Breakfast, - or Dessert?
Since I was making this smoothie for my fiancé as a little afternoon “treat” I decided to go all out and whip up the most decadent combo this time around. We both agree that it tasted more like pudding than like a smoothie (it was so good!) I usually make the healthiest version though, and I still think it tastes more like dessert than breakfast (in the most incredible way possible!) but as you can see– all of the ingredients are super clean!
What You’ll Need: (makes 2 servings)
- 2 frozen medium sized ripe bananas*
- 4 (heaping) tablespoons pure pumpkin purée
- 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1 cup frozen fruit (peach or persimmon would both be ideal!)
- Splash of water
- 3-4 medjool dates (optional)
- Splash of your favorite vanilla plant milk (optional)
- *bananas with lots of little brown spots are ideal and will be the sweetest! We couldn’t find any super ripe ones for this, so we had to make do– but brown/spotty ones are highly recommended!
Pit the dates and blend them up with a splash of water– this helps to make sure there aren’t any big pieces of skin left over when you go to blend the rest!
Add in the bananas and the rest of the frozen fruit along with either a little more water, or a splash of plant milk– add just enough to keep it blending smoothly to keep the smoothie thick and closer to a pumpkin pie consistency ;) !
Now it’s time for the pumpkin! I added in four big spoonfuls, but you can add it to taste if you prefer more or less.
For the finishing touch, add in your pumpkin spice and enjoy!

A Note from Lisa: My daughter Kasey and I made this smoothie over the rainy weekend,- rain and pumpkin, what a great autumn combination! We used really ripe bananas so we omitted the dates, and used non-flavored almond milk. It all works, and it's all Delish!
