Powder Face Primer: What It Is, Who Needs It & How to Use It

Primer is hands down one of the best investments you can make when it comes to your makeup routine. Not only does it help your foundation to stay beautifully in place all day for longer wear, it is an absolute god send for nearly any skin challenges when it comes to applying your foundation. 

Oily skin or large pores?  Applying primer will help your foundation to last longer with a more mattefying effect while minimizing pores all in one go!

Dry or flaky skin? Rosacea?  Primer is for you, too! It will help your foundation apply more evenly and cover up discoloration or splotches more effectively by holding your foundation in place exactly where you want it all day.

Best practice for applying either Primer under your makeup.

First, be sure to keep a dedicated brush specifically for your Primers so they don’t get mixed up with pigmented products or products that might alter the effectiveness of the Primers themselves. I love using my Powder Buffer Brush for this, although some prefer to use their Flat Top Buffer Brush for their Primer. To actually apply your primer, simply tap a little product into the lid of your jar, swirl your brush, tap off any excess, and then apply it by buffing it into your face just like you would with your foundation. That’s it!

 Another little *bonus* tip? Even though our Primers are translucent, if you feel you would prefer a slightly darker or more true to skin tone color for your Primer, feel free to add a little bit of your foundation to the primer before applying it to easily personalize it and achieve your desired effect (it really is a piece of cake to do!).
