Supporting My Skin at 64: Two Weekly Treatments That Made a Difference

smiling woman with glowing skin.

I’m 64, and if you had told me years ago that my skin could actually improve with age, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.

Like many of us, I grew up thinking aging skin was something you simply had to accept. But over time, I’ve learned something different.

My skin responds... when I support it.

Not with more products, but with the right kind of support, used consistently.

These are two treatments I come back to every week.

When Skin Support Goes Deeper

At this stage, I’m less focused on quick fixes and more focused on how my skin functions.

That’s where these two treatments come in, each working in a different way, but supporting the same goal: stronger, healthier-looking skin over time.

Treatment One: Supporting Skin Structure with NIRA

My NIRA Skincare Laser is a non-ablative laser that delivers controlled heat into the deeper layers of the skin.

That heat triggers a natural repair response in the dermis. Over time, this helps:

  • Stimulate new collagen
  • Strengthen the existing collagen network
  • Improve firmness and skin structure

I use it around my eyes, along my jawline, and around my mouth, places where skin tends to thin and soften first.

It’s not about dramatic change overnight. It’s about gradual, consistent support.

Treatment Two: Supporting Skin at the Cellular Level with Red Light

My Omnilux Contour Face Mask works differently.

Red light therapy energizes the mitochondria in skin cells, supporting how those cells repair and function.

This helps:

  • Improve skin tone and texture
  • Support collagen production
  • Enhance overall radiance

Where the laser works deeper in the dermis, red light works at the cellular level.

Why I Use Both

I think of it this way:

  • One supports structure
  • One supports cellular energy and repair

Two different pathways working together.

And like most things in skincare, consistency matters more than intensity.

What’s Changed Over Time

When I was younger, treatments like these were only available in clinics. Now, I can support my skin at home in a way that feels sustainable and realistic.

That shift alone has made it easier to stay consistent, and consistency is where the results come from.

Don’t Skip the Basics

No matter what treatments I use, I still come back to the essentials.

Sunscreen, always.

Protecting your skin now is one of the most important things you can do to support how it ages over time.

The Bottom Line

You don’t have to “accept” your skin without supporting it. You can work with it.

With the right tools and consistent care, your skin can continue to feel stronger, more resilient, and more radiant... even as you age.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    • Do at-home devices really work for aging skin?
Yes... when used consistently. While results are gradual, these technologies are designed to support collagen production and skin function over time.
    • What’s the difference between laser and red light therapy?
Laser treatments (like NIRA) deliver heat into deeper skin layers to stimulate collagen. Red light therapy works at the cellular level, supporting energy production and repair.
    • Can I use both treatments in the same routine?
Yes. Since they work through different mechanisms, they can complement each other when used properly and consistently.
    • How long does it take to see results?
Most people begin to notice improvements in texture and tone within a few weeks, with more visible firmness developing over time.
    • Is this safe for sensitive or mature skin?
Both technologies are generally designed to be safe for at-home use, but it’s always best to start slowly and follow device guidelines.
    • Do I still need skincare products if I use these devices?
Yes. These treatments support your skin, but a good routine (cleanser, hydration, and sun protection) remains essential.
    • Is sunscreen really necessary even if I’m doing treatments?
Absolutely. Sun exposure breaks down collagen, so protecting your skin daily helps maintain and extend your results.
