Bridal Makeup Looks
A styled bridal photo shoot complete with glitter, makeup talk and all things girly.
One of the best things about working for a small beauty company is that I can pretty much always count on having some new little beauty tips or tricks to chat with my girl friends about, and in turn when my friends have little beauty tips and tricks for me, I love nothing more than filing them away in my mind for a possible future post! Well, last week I had the amazing opportunity to catch up with a couple of my old friends while putting together a styled bridal shoot (my friends were modeling, and I was photographing) and to talk makeup, glitter, and all things girly with them while getting ready for the big day. I was inspired to recreate the look we used on my friend Megan (who was modeling as the “bridesmaid”) for this week’s post because I think it is such a fun, easy, Summery look that is perfect for those times when you want to add in a little extra glam (especially with “wedding season” now in full swing!) but still keep it light and breezy for the warm weather.
My friends Bian (the "bride") and Megan (the "bridesmaid") in last week's shoot...
The Look Can Be Customized
Something I love about this look is that you can totally customize the colors you use depending on your outfit, eye color, etc.– the neutrals are more or less the same, you just choose your pop of color! For this look, we used Olive Mineral Eyeshadow on Megan– and Peacock Mineral Eyeshadow on myself because the dress I was pairing it with for pictures was a perfect match! They are both (the dress and the eye shadow) a beautiful light blue, and I think the hint of Peacock went perfectly with my look.
For this look, you’ll need:
- Perfect Cover Mineral Foundation
- Silk Finish Powder
- Satin Finish Powder
- Adobe Cheek Color
- Mystery Mineral Eyeshadow
- Peacock Mineral Eyeshadow
- Champagne Ice Mineral Eyeshadow
- Soft Black Mineral Liner
- Black Magic Natural Mascara
- Peachcicle Mineral Organic Lip Gloss
+ Tools:
- Ultimate Kabuki Brush
- Powder Buffer Brush
- Perfect Blush Brush
- Eye Shading Brush
- Crease Eye Shadow Brush
- Fine Angle Brush
- Eyelash Curler
Foundation Canvas First
First, apply your foundation. I used Perfect Cover Foundation all over my face using the Kabuki Brush, and then set it by applying my Silk Finish Powder all over with the Powder Buffer Brush so I could begin the look with a clean, even “canvas”.
Next up, I added in a touch of Adobe on my cheekbones and blended up towards my temples with the Perfect Blush Brush– then highlighted slightly above that (right on the peak of my cheekbones) with my Satin Finish Powder to get a beautiful glowy finish.
I used our Flat Shading Brush to drag a bit of Mystery Mineral Eyeshadow onto my lower lash line, and then used the same Flat Shading Brush to apply it all over my lid as well, smoking it out a bit. Now– for the fun part!
The POP of Color
I used our Crease Brush to pick up a good amount of Peacock Mineral Shadow and then layered it all over my lid, bringing it out slightly past Mystery and working to blend them both into my crease. Finished up the eyeshadow look by highlighting your brow bone and inner corners with Champagne Ice Mineral Shadow.
Then, I used the wet application method to apply my Soft Black Mineral Liner to create a really dark, solid line on my upper lash line. I didn’t wing it out on myself, however that is definitely an option. (It mainly depends on how confident you are with your winged liner abilities). We didn't use any on Megan because she wanted a brighter, airier look– so that is always an option.
Bat Those Eye Lashes
Onto the lashes– Be sure to curl your lashes before applying mascara; It makes such a huge difference. I applied a few coats of the Black Magic Mineral Mascara to both my upper and lower lash line, and then I was ready for the final step…
Lips!
I wanted to go with a color that had orange tones in it since I thought it would compliment all of the light blue, so I chose a deep coral lip color that has golden shimmer to it as well (Enchanted to Meet You), and then layered it with Peachsicle Lip Gloss on top to complete the look.
Do You Love It?
I wanted to do this recreation right, so I dug out my high school prom dress (it’s the fanciest dress I have apart from my wedding dress, and probably the closest to a bridesmaid’s dress?)– I was definitely happy that it still fits... In fact, it’s still a little big and I had to keep hiking it up during the pictures (Ah, the memories… haha!). But see? I knew I hung onto it for all of these years for something!

Lisa's Notes: I still have my prom dress - it now fits my daughter! (Oh, I loved that silky, fuchsia dress with the slit all the way up the leg. So fun to wear.)
