Mature SkinCare Protocol: The Basic Step-by-Step Guide
This is the basic mature skincare protocol - the advanced protocol coming soon.
You don't have to say goodbye to good skin as you age.
You know, the good skin you had in your 20's & 30's.
Our skin will change of course, we're always changing, but there are certain consistent steps to take that can really help to maintain, and even improve your skin, even as the years go on.
Speaking of, I overheard a conversation the other day.
An older woman was saying to a younger, "Oh, you are so smart to be taking such good care of your skin."
She went on...
"I never did anything to my skin because I didn't need to. I didn't even think about it. It never occurred to me until I was in my 50's, 60's, until one day I woke up and went, 'What happened to my face, my skin, my arms, my neck?'"
Can you relate?
Many of us can. That moment where you pass the mirror and you go,"Whoa! Who is that chicky staring back at me?"
Tenet #1 - Hydrate & Moisturize
The Basic SkinCare Protocol
(For skin's thats seen a few years.)
As we age, our skin changes. It becomes drier, thinner, less elastic, and more prone to wrinkles and age spots. The surface of our skin can get coarser and patchy in texture.
OK, so what can we do to improve the situation?
First, learn the tenets below.
Tenet #2 - Daily UV Protection
The Basic Tenets of the Protocol
- Hydration and moisture. (Hydration equals water, and moisture equals oil. If your skin is dehydrated, it's lacking water. And if your skin is dry, it's lacking oil.) You need to moisturize with a product containing water and oil, consistently.
- Daily UV protection. Daily. Daily. Daily.
- Daily Revitalizers. (I define revitalizers as the active formulas that zero in on specific concerns such as fine lines, dark spots, uneven skin texture, uneven skin tone, loss of elasticity.) This protocol will look different for everyone, based on your priorities.
Next follow the protocol below.
Tenet #3 - Daily Revitalizers
Step-By-Step Guide
Follow These Basic Steps
- Cleanse your skin twice a day. Gently. Double cleanse at night if you wear makeup. Use a gentle cleanser in the morning to rid your skin of the debris that accumulates as you sleep and your body detoxes.
- Revitalize - Gentle Exfoliation Regularly. For starters, exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells and reveal the fresh, new skin underneath. It also helps to clear acne, soften fine lines, increase hydration, and even accelerates the healing of acne scars.
- Revitalize - Treatments for Specific Concerns. Serums and treatments are highly concentrated formulas for targeted concerns.
- Moisturize your skin regularly. Regular moisturizing habits teach your skin cells to absorb the moisture for fully hydrated, plumper, smoother skin.
- Wear a mineral based sunscreen every day. Prevention! Sunscreen is the best way to protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays which causes 85 to 90% of the external signs of aging. Look for a mineral sunscreen that has an SPF of 30 or higher and that is broad-spectrum, which means it protects against both UVA (aging) and UVB (burning) rays.
