Here’s the thing. Sometimes, I get stuck in a neutral color rut (does this happen to you too?!) where I find myself wearing the exact same few neutral shadows over, and over, andover again… And that’s been me lately! I tell myself that neutral colors are just so quick and easy, and even when I’m in a rush I can swipe them on and know they’ll look great without thinking twice.
But then I remember all of the other totally gorgeous Simple Beauty Minerals eyeshadow colors in my stash– and I just know that I need to break out of my ho-hum routine! And here’s a little secret: adding color doesn't have to be complicated, or take forever to plan out, or be too bright and dramatic for everyday wear.
In fact, they can be just as quick and easy as your everyday neutral eyeshadow routine is!

For this look, I chose to pair Misty with Hot Cocoa– one of my absolute favorite brown eyeshadows for mixing and matching with different looks (Really! In fact, I just ordered another full size Hot Cocoa earlier today!). The beautiful chocolatey brown of the Hot Cocoa perfectly melts into and complements Misty’s pretty, shimmering, elegantly pink pop of color. I ended up adding in Bliss as my highlight (another all time favorite of mine), although I forgot to swatch it in this shot!
For brushes, I went with the flat Eyeshading Brush and the Crease Brush.
I started off with my Eyeshading brush and packed on Hot Cocoa all over my lid– making sure not to extend it out too far or up too high since I wanted to leave plenty of room for Misty!
After I had placed the Hot Cocoa, I picked up a little bit of Misty using my Crease Brush to blend it into my crease (slightly on top of the Hot Cocoa), as well as slightly above in a little arc. I reapplied it a few times so that I could get the build up of color I wanted, but leave space to blend it out as well.
I finished it off by applying Bliss to the inner corner of my eye, as well as just a touch of Bliss on my browbone. After this, I ended up going back over Hot Cocoa with my Eyeshading brush focusing especially on the center to make sure it was dark enough after adding in and blending out the Misty several times earlier.
And then, after curling my lashes and adding in mascara, pencil liner, a few swipes of Perfection Lip Gloss and… Voìla!
I love the pop of pink in this look from Misty, and I think it really shows off the gorgeous color in all three shadows. Plus, I love that this got me out of my routine and inspired me to try something new!
