How To Choose Serums For Your Over 50 Skin

Why You Need a Range of Serums in Your Skincare Routine.

As we age, our skin undergoes various changes, from thinning and dryness to wrinkles and dullness. Go figure.

Serums, our little besties, are potent formulations designed to address specific skin concerns and promote a healthier, more radiant complexion. They help our skin to behave and look it's best.

Before we get started; A Side Note To Help Avoid Confusion

Before delving into the world of serums, it's crucial to understand the distinction between serums and creams. While both contain active ingredients, serums are lightweight and penetrate deeper into the skin due to their higher concentration of actives. Creams, on the other hand, provide more hydration and moisture, and if they contain actives, typically it's in lower concentrations.

That said, my Behave 1% Retinol Moisture Cream does contain a high percentage of retinol, so no need for a retinol serum, if you're using Behave.

My point is, you don’t want to overdue these actives, so check your creams and serums to be sure you’re not double dosing.

The Essential Serums

  • *Vitamin C Serum: This powerhouse antioxidant brightens the complexion, evens out skin tone, and reduces dark spots and hyperpigmentation. Our stable formulation ensures maximum efficacy and hydration, making it ideal for daily use.
  • *Resveratrol Peptide Complex Serum: Peptides support collagen production, improve firmness, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Packed with antioxidants, this serum protects against environmental damage and promotes youthful-looking skin. *By using both Vitamin C Serum and Resveratrol Complex Peptide Serum, your skin gets the benefits of broad spectrum protection because each of these antioxidants serves in a different way
  • Bright On Brightening Serum: Formulated with algae, seaweed extracts, and licorice, this serum fades dark spots, evens out skin tone, and boosts radiance. It's perfect for combating dullness, brightening, and achieving a refreshed, glowing complexion. I also recommend TiZO's Complexion Brightener. LINK
  • Hyaluronic Acid Serum by NIRA: Hyaluronic acid hydrates and plumps the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This high-concentration formula promotes collagen production and skin repair for a more youthful appearance. Note: Our Behave 1% Retinol Moisturizing Cream also contains hyaluronic acid.

How To Choose

  • Everyone wants to use a good vitamin c formulation
  • If you’re looking for increased firmness in your skin, add in - peptides
  • If you’re looking for an overall even complexion and to ease/prevent dark spots and pigmentation, add in a brightening serum
  • If you’re looking to aid in overall hydration, a hyaluronic acid serum

To incorporate serums into your routine, consider your specific concerns: Vitamin C for brightening, peptides for firmness, brightening serum for pigmentation, and hyaluronic acid for hydration.

How To Use

  • Apply to clean, damp skin for optimal absorption. However, if your skin leans toward sensitive, apply on dry skin.
  • Do it! Layer your serums. For example, Vitamin C Serum, followed by Bright On Brightening Serum.
  • If you desire to use multiple serums to cover your multiple skin concerns, as I do, try the above combination in the morning, and in the evening you could try using TiZO's Complexion Brightener followed by Resveratrol Peptide Serum.
