My Dailies at 65: The Habits That Support How I Age
This Is What an Average Day Looks Like for Me in My 60s
Most of what I do in a day is pretty ordinary.
I don't set a 5 a.m. alarm or spend two hours working out. My mornings are slow. I work, walk, lift three days a week, and eat fairly simple meals. By evening, I’m happy to be relax.
When someone asks what I do at 65 to take care of myself, it’s easier to show them than to make a list. So here’s a normal day for me.
My Mornings Are Slow on Purpose

I like a quiet morning.
I do my morning skincare, including SPF (of course), and apply my estrogen and testosterone. Then I head to the kitchen, boil water and squeeze lemon into a mug while my cat Snowy waits for breakfast. Patiently would be a stretch.
Once Snowy’s fed, I take my supplements and get my collagen coffee ready for later. Then I sit down with my lemon water, journal for a bit and look at what I have planned.
Eventually, it’s coffee time. I usually drink it at my laptop while I answer emails, check customer orders and get into my work for the day.
I used to move through mornings much faster. At some point I realized I didn’t like rushing first thing, and most days, I don’t have to. So I give myself that time.
And then I walk.
Before breakfast, I usually head outside for a walk.
It’s one of the most consistent things I do, probably because I genuinely like it. I get outside, clear my head and come home with an absurd number of content ideas.
Sometimes I listen to a podcast or an audiobook. Sometimes I just walk and think.
By the time I get home, I’m ready to eat. Usually very ready.
Breakfast starts with protein
My first meal tends to be late, and I start with protein.
As a vegetarian, I have to give that some thought. Eggs, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, tofu, edamame, beans and protein powder all show up regularly in my meals. Also protein pancakes.
For years, I figured that because I ate a healthy vegetarian diet, I was getting what I needed. I pay closer attention now, especially to protein. I work hard to build muscle, and I want my meals to support that work.
On Training Days, I'm in the Garage

Three days a week, I strength train in my garage gym. I’ve built up a good little setup out there, and I love having it at home.
At 65, I train because I want muscle, and I like how it looks. Aesthetics matter to me. I also want to be able to travel with my own luggage, lift something heavy without looking around for help, and get down on the floor knowing I can get back up.
I thought about strength differently when I was lifting in my 20s. These days, I pay attention to what I’m lifting and keep track of it. I want to know whether I’m progressing.
Some weeks I am. Other weeks, a weight I lifted last Wednesday feels inexplicably heavier. I write it down anyway and come back for the next workout.
After My Workout
After my workout, I shower and usually spend some time in front of my full-body red light panel. I use it about three times a week, on training days, before I get back to work.
I pay more attention to recovery now. I still want to push myself in the gym, but I don’t see much value in finishing a workout so wiped out that I dread the next one. I want to make progress and be ready to train again.
Yes, I Still Track
I track my food and my workouts.
I know some people hate tracking. I used to as well, but don’t anymore. I find I ike data, and I’d rather know how much protein I’m eating than assume I’m getting enough. At the gym, I check what I lifted last time because I’m certainly not going to remember every weight and rep.
I also like being able to look back a few months. Progress can be hard to spot day to day, but then I’ll notice that a weight I once struggled with has become part of my regular workout. That’s satisfying.
For me, tracking gives me useful information.
Skincare Is Woven Through My Day

I’ve cared about my skin for most of my adult life, so skincare is already woven into my day. Sunscreen every morning, of course.
Vitamin C and retinoids are staples for me. Over the years, I’ve also added red light therapy, my NIRA laser and estriol face cream as I’ve learned more and tried things for myself.
I don’t use every device every day. That would drive me crazy. In the evenings, I alternate NIRA and Omnilux, three nights a week for each. It’s a schedule I can actually keep up with.
That matters when I decide what earns a place in my routine. I want a reason to use it, but I also have to like using it enough to continue.
Then I Go Back to Work
Creating content, editing, answering emails, helping customers, working with brands, writing blog posts and customer emails, planning what's coming next.
There always seems to be another project.
Because I work for myself and work from home, it's also very easy for work to expand and fill every available hour if I let it.
Evenings Get Quiet Again
Dinner is usually pretty simple.
(You can see what I eat in a typical day here.)
After dinner, I take off every bit of my makeup. I cannot stand going to bed with makeup still on my face. I mean it, I can be so tired, and I literally can not sleep.
Depending on the night, I'll do either my NIRA treatment or my Omnilux mask, then settle in.
Lights get lower. Work is done.
My Nighttime Routine

Before bed, I do my nighttime skincare.
I wash my face and décolleté, apply my serums and moisturizer, and use whichever nighttime actives are scheduled for that evening. I also use lash serum and scalp serum.
I apply my evening estrogen and take my prescribed progesterone along with the supplements that are part of my nighttime routine.
Then I'm in bed fairly early.
I've become very protective of my sleep.
I notice the difference when I don't get enough. My workouts feel harder. Recovery isn't as good. I'm hungrier. I don't feel as good. I'm not so nice, lol.
So while I can't control whether every night is a perfect night's sleep, I can give myself a pretty good opportunity to get one.
That's what I try to do.
That's Pretty Much It
When you put an entire day down on paper like this, I suppose it sounds like I do quite a bit for my health.
Living it doesn't really feel that way.
Most of these things have been part of my life long enough that I don't spend much time thinking about them.
I make my collagen coffee.
I go for my walk.
I eat my protein.
Three days a week, I lift.
I do my skincare.
I go to bed.
And then I get up and do some version of it again.
Not every day looks exactly like this. Of course it doesn't.
Some days I have appointments. Some days I'm filming most of the day. Sometimes I go out for lunch. Sometimes I skip a walk. Sometimes work takes over and my beautifully slow day isn't particularly slow anymore.
That's real life.
But this is the general rhythm I keep coming back to.
If You Missed Part One
The first article in this series is What I Did Right, What I'd Do Differently, and What I've Learned About Aging.
That's where I look backward at what served me well, what took me far too long to figure out, and what I'd tell my younger self now.
This article is what those lessons look like in my life today.
Next: What Actually Moved the Needle?
For the third article, I want to get much more specific.
I've tried a lot over the years.
Some things became permanent parts of my life. Some were probably helpful but impossible to separate from everything else I was doing.
And some things weren't worth the time, money or effort.
So next, I'm going to share what I genuinely think has made the biggest difference, and what hasn't.
